The Templeton/Black email : response from the President of the Royal College of Physicians
Earlier today, (full correspondence here) Dr Crippen asked the President of the Royal College of Physicians, Professor Ian Gilmore, for his views on the Templeton/Black email (see Looking after Johnny Foreigner for the full text of the email)
At 12.45 today, Wednesday 21st March 2007, the Royal College issued the following statement to NHS BLOG DOCTOR:
Professor Ian Gilmore, President of the Royal College of Physicians, said that the RCP did not believe that the major purpose of MMC was to identify international medical graduates, and the College would not wish MMC or MTAS to be used as vehicles for discrimination against IMGs. The College has called on the Home Office and Department of Health to issue clear advice on the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme to employers and Deans to remove the uncertainty that prevents IMGs from making informed decisions about their professional futures.”
